Dr Larry Thead is The Greatest!!!!

I understand it is ridiculous to keep up with a large number of patients' individual insurances, but there are 2 major health insurance providers in my area. Granted I specifically requested my tests be handled in-network & that I subscribed to one of these major providers, it should not have played out like this. I was stuck w/ the $200 bill.

These guys were in-network providers for me at the time and ordered some basic blood tests on my behalf. Despite having requested using in-network labs, I was "victim to a faulty system". They still submitted my blood to an out-of-network lab, and I was subject to the $200 bill that should have been covered with my insurance (but my insurance doesn't have a reduced, negotiated rate with out-of-network labs). Northside Clinic was no help in resolving the matter and assumed no responsibility.

I've been a patient for many years. I feel more like a customer now. I had an appointment this morning 7/14/17 at 9:15am. I showed up at 9:00am. After 2 3/4 hours, I finally got to see the doctor for a whopping 3 minutes.Their office visit cost used to be $60.00. It is now $100.00. Explaining that I no longer had insurance and couldn't afford my diabetic medication, I was given a bag full of one the medications I take and all but 2 small bottles had expired 2 months ago. I feel like ever since Northside merged with or was acquired by Mobile Infirmary that the care about the patient has fallen to the wayside to make room for more customers. I think I'll be looking for another doctor.

Some of the people at the front desk get attitude when simple questions are asked and i have over heard a couple of them gossiping about patients. Dr. Thead is amazing! If you can get past the people up front and get to him it's worth it! Would NOT recommend Crenshaw he prescribes off the wall meds that are pushed to him to prescribe patients by drug reps! My husband was in the E.R. twice with severe allergic reactions to a medication that should not have been perscribed for his type of ailment. In my opinion he is not concerned with treating illness but pushing new drugs.

Dr. Carver is an excellent doctor, but even with an appointment you can expect to wait 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours to finally see the doctor. due to the wait, it has forced me to start using Greater Mobile Urgent Care where they have great doctors and you are in and out within an hour. I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment on 9-01-17 at Northside Clinic (DMC) to see Dr. Carver and finally got up and walked out at 1:05 p.m. The only reason I tried to use them was I needed a chloresterol check for insurance purposes and the urgent care doesnt have a lab to do that.
